Information Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud today gave financial assistance to film director Arannyo Polash, who has become penniless by making a film and is now working as a hotel boy.
“No profession is disgraceful. I also worked as a waiter abroad for long,” he said while giving the financial assistance from his own fund to Polash at his Secretariat office here.
State Minister for Information Dr Murad Hasan was present at the function, said a release here.
Reminiscing his days abroad, Hasan said he also worked in hotels and restaurants while studying abroad. “I’ve no hesitation to say that I also worked as a waiter when I was a student of masters and PhD. And I worked there for long,” he added.
He said, “I talked with all including the state minister and information secretary to help Polash from the ministry. But we have to go through some procedures to give financial assistance from the ministry.
So I called him today to give assistance from my own fund. I’ll talk with the committee so that the film of Polash could be released.”
Additional Secretary (Admin and Film) Md Mizan-ul-Alam, Bangladesh Film Directors’ Association President Mushfiqur Rahman Guljer, film director of “Ganthabyo’ Arannyo Polash and producer of the film Alina Shammi and senior officials of the ministry were present.
Hasan, also the publicity and publication secretary of Awami League, gave Taka one lakh to Polash, the release added.
